Stand with Brave Girls

With the support of her mentor, Winnie (pictured above) returned to secondary school after the birth of her son and now hopes to one day become a journalist.

“Polycom became like my parents. My mum used to abuse me. She was like ‘I can’t help you with this situation, you have to get out of my house’. But when I came [to Polycom] they used to support me with food, clothing, everything I needed.”

Polycom was founded 20 years ago in response to increasing levels of sexual violence in the Kibera informal settlement outside of Nairobi. It has now grown into a national organisation representing more than 60% of girls and young women living in informal settlements across Kenya.
